"Enough is enough", Chief Justice Gogoi, who heads the five-judge Constitution bench said soon after Wednesday's hearing in the decades-old land dispute resumed.

The Supreme Court is expected to pronounce its judgment on a dispute that first entered court in 1885, a decision that is bound to have far-reaching political as well as social repercussions in India. Describing the political import of the case, Mr Nilanjan Mukhopadhyay, a political commentator and author of a book on the dispute, said its outcome would result in further Hindu polarisation in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, a right-wing Hindu socio-political organisation with close ties to the BJP.

This is the second-longest hearing in the top court's history after the landmark 68 days of proceedings in the Keshavananda Bharati case.

Earlier in the day, senior advocate Rajeev Dhavan, representing Muslim parties in the case, tore up a pictorial map provided by the All India Hindu Mahasabha purportedly showing the exact birthplace of Lord Ram during the hearings in the supreme court.

Dhavan then tore the pictorial map in the courtroom. In a tweet, Singhvi noted, "tearing papers given as evidence in the Supreme Court is not befitting of a lawyer".

However, the report also states that the place does not have a colony or Mohalla consisting of small houses, instead it is a place where people gathered in large numbers to offer prayers.

Prince Yakub Habeebuddin Tucy, a Mughal descendant, on Wednesday hoped that before pronouncing the verdict in the Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid land dispute case, the Supreme Court will consider the faith of Hindus.

Appearing for the All India Hindu Mahasabha, senior advocate Vikas Singh said that the Sunni Waqf Board was relying on an order of 1861 by a board to show that the Babri Masjid had recieved grants from the British government.

Hindu parties, which argued for 17 days at the start of hearing, submitted that as the deity and birth place were the juridical persons, they had the title over the entire 2.77 acre disputed land and any division of property would amount to mutilation of deity itself. The same year, Ramachandra Das, the leader of the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas - an organisation formed to promote and oversee the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya - also filed the lawsuit seeking to keep the idol under the central dome of Babri Masjid. We hope that a temple should be built there.
