For those concerned about whether Beat Saber will become an exclusive to Occulus, which is owned by Facebook, don't be. The game, which is a neon-clad Tron-like rhythm-based music game was released to accolades that not many would have expected, following the steady decline of the music game genre. As well, Beat Games will still ship the promised 360° Levels mode next month and there will be more music added before the end of the year. In a statement issued by Mike Verdu, AR and VR Director of Content at Facebook, the pickup is "just the beginning" of Facebook's plans to "accelerate VR" via acquisitions.

Beat Games officially joins Oculus Studios as an independent studio out of Prague. "We are very excited to have the game Beat join our team".

Perhaps more importantly though, Facebook notes that Beat Games will not be creating content exclusively for the Oculus platform, and will continue to work on the platforms it now operates within.

On Tuesday, the social network announced it was acquiring Beat Games for an undisclosed sum.

Believed to be one of the most popular virtual reality titles, Beat Saber is available on a number of platforms, including PlayStation 4, Windows Mixed Reality, Windows PCs, and the HTC Vive. "I've been in the industry for a while and have seen that firsthand", Verdu said. "However, I've also seen and been a part of some incredible success stories", he wrote. While many are understandably skeptical of what this means for Beat Saber's future, Verdu does his best to assure users that Beat Games will continue to operate independently.
