K-pop star Goo Hara has died aged 28


South Korean singer and actress Goo Hara has been found dead at her home in Seoul, police say. Police say they are now establishing a cause of death but do not suspect foul play.

Goo Hara was best known for being a former member of K-pop girl group Kara, that was at the height of its popularity between 2008-2013.

Goo was found dead about 18:00 local time (09:00 GMT) on Sunday in her home, the Gangnam Police Department was quoted by Yonhap news agency as saying. In her last Instagram post two days ago, Hara wished her followers "good night". The star was hospitalized in May following the incident, prompting her to apologize to her fans upon her release.

Prior to her death, Goo had just completed a tour of Japan with new solo material. They helped fan the global K-pop wave, building large fan bases in Japan, China and other countries. Goo Hara left DSP Media, the management company that the group was under, in 2016 after the expiration of her contract and the group went on an indefinite hiatus.

The world is mourning the death of Goo Hara. Hara was reportedly hospitalised following in the summer following her alleged attempt. According to Billboard, Hara was also blackmailed by an ex-boyfriend who threatened to release a sex tape, another pressure Korean women in particular face, especially those in the public eye.
