"We're not going to give it away this year", Lowe's president and CEO Marvin Ellison said on the company's third-quarter earnings call Wednesday.

The company plans to move its Canadian information technology platform to the U.S.

Lowe's could attract more "regular shoppers" by distinguishing itself from Home Depot, he added, stressing "the softer side of home improvement".

Some employees could also be eligible to transfer to nearby stores that will stay open.

It is unknown at this time how many employees in Brockville will be affected by this closure.
