The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which holds the award ceremony every year, confirmed the news on Twitter Wednesday. The network has hosted the Oscars telecast since the 1970s. Kevin Hart had originally been announced as the host, but he stepped down just days after the announcement after several of his homophobic tweets were resurfaced.

The network's Karey Burke said the show will stick to "what worked for us previous year: huge entertainment value, big musical numbers, big comedy, and star power", Entertainment Tonight reports.

Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev are engaged!
After practically 5 years of convincing Cena to get married once more, Nikki then realized that she needed kids. Chigvintsev, 37, published the photos again and told his fiance: "You are the best thing that happened to me".

"Let me confirm it now, together with the Academy, that there will be no traditional host this year", she said, saying that it worked last year.

Whether related to the controversy or the host-free approach, at the end of the day, Oscar ratings improved. Nielsen reported 29.6 million viewers tuned in to the 2019 show, while there were 26.5 million viewers in 2018.
